About Joy of Learning Foundation (JLF)

Profile of Core Team
- The Joy of Learning Foundation is a group of passionate and committed resource people, each of whom is committed towards making a contribution to education reform. Some of us are associated with a larger network of educators through our own past work trajectories. The group is a recent formation that came together in October 2016. The team is a mix of some people working full time, and others contributing as free-lance or voluntary members in their free time. It is an evolving organization, and as work grows, more people are showing interest in contributing in various ways.
Anshumala Gupta, Founder Director
B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering, IIT, Kanpur and MA in Elementary Education, TISS, Mumbai. 30+ years experience in leading public campaigns, publication, editing, teaching, teacher-education, course-design and online instruction design. Her special strength lies in written and verbal communication, analysis and she is deeply interested in innovating and energizing classroom teaching-learning. She was the editor and initiator of a voluntary Hindi monthly children’s magazine for 8 years. She has been Senior Consultant in NCERT, where she led the preparation of an online certificate course for elementary science teachers. She founded JLF, and is leading the team academically and in managing all its affairs.
Dr. Swapna Khare
Ph.D. Microbiology, IISc, Bangalore, Post doc & Ex-Scientist University of Texas Houston,US. She has taught graduate level microbiology for several years and handles life sciences in JLF.
Dr. Shivani Chaturvedi
Ph.D. Chemistry, DRDO, Pithoragarh; Post doc, IIT-Delhi. She has taught at both graduate and postgraduate levels. She has also penned four books, both scientific and literary, and several research papers in international journals.
Dr. Swagata Deb
Ph.D. Physics, IIT Delhi. Ex-scientist in Science College, Kolkata and IIT Delhi. She has coached students at FIITJEE and taught mathematics and physics to high school children for 20+ years. She’s a children’s author with six published books with one on mathematics for children and one on the history of physics.
Avani Gupta
B.E. CS, Manipal Institute of Technology, M.S., CS,University of Texas at Austin (incomplete). Former Data Scientist, Microsoft, Paytm Labs and Airtel X Labs. Taught under- privileged children voluntarily and led covid relief work in Delhi.
Manisha Yadav
B Sc. Chemistry (hons), Zakir Husain Delhi College, B. Ed. SPM College. Handles Chemistry, video making and editing, with experiments in all sciences.

Nithya Nagarajan
M.Sc. Biochemistry from the University of Madras, PG diploma in teaching and learning, from ‘I am A Teacher’. She has 5+ years of experience in teaching science in Cambridge Schools, and an year in research at the Applied & Industrial Microbiology lab, IIT Madras. She is deeply interested in science education and also dabbles in graphic design and DIY projects.
Gunjan Doogar
Done Environment Management and
Sustainable Development course from University of Wales, U.K., Masters from Delhi School of Economics. Worked in reputed NGO's and also CLEAN-India campaign on environmental activities.
Vikas Saini
